Coreg (Carvedilol) is used for treating high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Coreg is related to labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate).

Coreg (Carvedilol) blocks receptors of the adrenergic nervous system, the system of nerves in which epinephrine (adrenalin) is active. Nerves from the adrenergic system enter the heart and release an adrenergic chemical (norepinephrine) that attaches to receptors on the heart's muscle and stimulates the muscle to beat more rapidly and forcefully.

Dosage: How should you take Coreg?
Take Coreg twice a day with food. If you are taking the Coreg for high blood pressure, there should be improvement within 7 to 14 days.

If you miss a Coreg dose:
Take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next Coreg dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular Coreg medication schedule. Do not take 2 Coreg doses at once.
