Sucralfate Suspension for oral use holds 1 g of sucralfate per 10 mL.
Other factors in this solution are FD&C Red No. 40, colloidal silicon dioxide NF, flavor, methylcellulose USP, glycerin USP, methylparaben NF, purified water USP, microcrystalline cellulose NF, simethicone USP, and sorbitol solution USP.
Indication
Sucralfate Suspension helps for treatment and prevention of ulcers. It also has other uses.
This oral solution is a gastric protective. It operates by creating a defensive layer on the ulcer to act as a wall against bile salts, acid, and enzymes in the stomach.

Dosage and Administration
An oral dosage of 1 g (10 mL/2 teaspoonfuls) four times per day has been recommended for adult. It should be taken on an empty stomach.
Antacids may be taken to relieve pain but it must not be taken within one-half hour before or after this oral solution.
It may take a week or two to cure the disease but treatment need to be continued for 4 to 8 weeks unless healing has been proved by x-ray or endoscopic examination.
Caution is needed while administering this oral drug to an elderly patient. They may start a lower dose.
Drug Contraindication
Like any other medication, Sucralfate Suspension may also have serious drug interactions. Hence the patient must acquaint his health care professional before raking any of these medicines, especially: citrate salts or pills that have aluminum, in particular in patients who have kidney disease.
